Greetings all!
After a process which began earlier this month on ACX (the Amazon Creative Exchange) and involved the assistance of more than ten other individuals reviewing submissions, actress and narrator ELIZABETH PHILLIPS has been chosen to narrate Purebred: Soul of the Mixed Blood. She’s narrated the Grid Down series of dystopia novels along with Scepter of Salvation and Mage of Monrovia by Terry Spear! What really stood out about Elizabeth’s audition was her excellent range of emotions conveyed in dialogue, getting the tone, mood, and motivation of the characters exactly right! She can also do a convincing male voice, which for females, is especially difficult. Finally, and one of the most important aspects, she seems genuinely interested in the work! Now, there are schedules to balance and other priorities to align, but we’re hoping for an April release of Purebred on audio book.
Also, I’m also working with another artist, Foxena, who has done the flourishes and chapter break art in the books for a redo on the cover. The cover was a bit of a cobble-together from art I had already commissioned, and … it shows. I’ll probably try to get the same basic “feeling/look”, but I’ll also be looking for the artist to make some suggestions and provide input, as well! It’s a very exciting time!
Now, in the middle of this, what else is going on? Well, I’m shifting my thinking about the “free PDF giveaway” from Purebred to The Summit, which is a book that I think is really good, but it kind of sits at the end of the whole series and may need a little bit of a spotlight. Editing on Beyond: Incarnation continues at a decent pace, and I’m hoping to get that out to my editors by the end of the month.
