I am happy to report that “Purebred” is over the 200 page mark!  Both characters are set upon their courses, eventually bringing them to a meeting.  That meeting isn’t very far away, in terms of pages.  When I get there, that will be some very fun, very challenging writing.

It’s a little weird sometimes choosing when to slow down and give the reader almost minute to minute detail, and then picking another spot to jump literally across years of time.  It’s a little easier to choose when characters get established into their lifestyles, because then it is like they become part of a predictable pattern, and that’s good stuff to skip across.  It’s not that interesting things (wins, losses, joys, and tragedies) don’t happen to them in that time period; it’s that those events don’t significantly change the trail they’re going down.

I’m realizing another benefit of this hobby is the ability to accomplish measurable results.  Page numbers don’t lie; if you’ve written that many, you’ve written that many.  It’s very nice to be able to see progress.  Take care everyone.
