Another reason I’ve delayed a bit on progress of the Fallen is that I was blessed with an idea for two more! What if you were about die in an accident of some kind, and suddenly you wake up to find yourself in a new life? The idea isn’t new and unique, but the place the characters find themselves in and their questions and dilemmas certainly could be. Also, there are characters in the books – Merialla is one – who have journeys ahead of them that would be fascinating in their own right!
What I do when this type of inspiration happens is I “start a new project” and write down the notes and inspirations down I have at the moment. I’ll then leave those notes for later, and either add to them if other inspiration hits or refer back to them when I’m looking for the next project.
