Working on “the Fallen,” I now have the introduction complete (and a bit of the first chapter).  One of the interesting challenges is to conquer how to bring in those who haven’t read your books before while not boring your readers who have.  In some cases, it’s been summaries or flash-backs; this time, we learn the history of Thuria from those who will become the enemy, and we see their fears and bias drive them past conscience and into the ways of the very powerful or the very foolish.  Quoting a famous doctor…

“You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don’t alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.”

Mixed bloods on Thuria gaining a place equal to the purebred is a fact that some will want to alter.  More to come … JTL
