Hi there!

Okay, this update is actually pretty close to when I finished the chapter, and I haven’t started chapter 19, yet (hopefully tonight).  We’ve come to the part of the book that is going to try to answer some big questions and start to tie things ups – not only for this book, but for the entire arc of books.  The Fallen is, in many ways, among the last of the core series.  That series basically takes Thuria from its pre-Meeting Den past through to its first “golden age.”  The Fallen accomplishes that by getting to the only key way to resolve the various conflicts that have come up between the mixed bloods and the purebred.

What is that?  Well, a giant invasion of extra-Thurians who impose their will on the population or mind-probe them into doing “what’s right?”  No.  Killing off the bad guys in really neat and horrible ways so they never try “this” again, and no one will ever try for fear of getting the same?  No.  A new set of laws provided by the government to protect the rights of those oppressed?  Well, a government can be a useful tool, but no, it can’t solve “social problems” by legislation alone.  Also, the government is a reflection of at least some of the people, so it can’t easily move in directions that influential populous doesn’t want to travel.

What does it take to make real change?  Where does real change start?  Where is the hardest place to find, and the hardest place to change, but the only real way to affect a change in the beliefs and attitudes of a society?  Can individuals make the difference on their own?  What resources can they draw upon to create exceptional cultural change in a positive and empathetic direction?

Well, that’s why the next few chapters will be such fun to write.  Stay tuned!
